•••••••••• Brief notes on starting to play
Evocation is a completely interactive game that does not require the use of the keyboard. During the course of the story, you'll have to resolve enigmas and mysteries connected by a single guiding thread: the search for the knowledge. Remember that in order to consult the quick user's guide, simply click on the icon of the caption with the question mark.
• In the Options menu:
A new Options menu has been added to the final version. By keeping the mouse pressed on the icon of the Options triangle, on the upper left-hand side, Evocation will open a menu with four choices:
- Music: makes it possible to activate/disactivate the soundtrack. This function is available on all Macintosh computerswith processors of more than 68000, i.e. Classic I, PowerBook 100, Mac Plus, etc.
- Sound: activates/disactivates sound.
- Name: shows/hides a message window in which Evocation writes the name of the object indicated by the cursor in real time.
- Effects: activates/disactivates the use of effects that may, on some Macintosh computers, slow down the speed of the game.
• In the game window:
- to ask Eto the name of an object:
one click on the object itself.
- to ask Eto to EXAMINE an object:

Then click on the object on which you want to use
the previously indicated one.
• In the inventory window (where the objects in Eto's possession are arranged):

the inventory window, following the movements of the mouse.
Click again to deposit it in its new position.

click on the grid in the upper right-hand portion of the inventory window.
- to use an object:
keep the mouse pressed on the object until you hear a beep and drag
the outline of the object onto one of the icons specified above.
N.B. if you move the mouse while keeping it pressed on the object,
the inventory window closes to leave you with a full view of the screen.
• In the map window:
- to ask Eto for information on the room in which you're in:
click on the map of the room
- to move from one room to another:
click on one of the red flashing arrows.
N.B. there is a simpler and quicker way to move around: if you see
the doorway to the room that you want to go into, keep the mouse
pressed on the doorway until you hear a beep and then release
the mouse without moving it.
